Yamano Shuzou
山 野 酒 造
160 years of history since Edo period
Brief history of Sakagura Yamano Shuzou
Located in the town of Katano, on the border of Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, this long-established sake brewery has been producing sake for approximately 160 years since the late Edo period. The commitment to high-quality sake brewing is strong, with 80% of the total production being dedicated to premium sake, including “specially designated sake” such as Junmai Daiginjo, Junmai Ginjo, and Junmai.
Situated in an area blessed with abundant water, a crucial element in sake brewing, the brewery benefits from the rich underground water of the Ikoma mountain range that separates Osaka and Nara. Using high-quality sake rice sourced mainly from the Kansai region and this plentiful subterranean water, the brewery produces exquisite Japanese sake that has gained popularity, especially in the local Osaka area.

Testimonials
Brian & Wooja | Canada / Korea
We recently joined a brewery tour at Yamano Shuzou, located between Osaka and Kyoto. It was a wonderful sensory and eye-opening experience.
The tour was hosted and led by Sakagura president Yamano-san and I was thoroughly impressed with Yamano-san’s in depth knowledge of all the various aspects of sake brewing.
